REGULAR MEETING APRIL 9, 2007 <br />Mid Pt 83 Ex 3' x 84.75' SW Cor OP Lowell; W 38.25' of E 80.25' Lot <br />84 W 38.25' of E 80.5' S 16.5' Lot 83 OP Lowell; 42' E End Lot 84 x 42' <br />E End 1 Rd Side Lot 83 OP Lowell <br />and which has Key Numbers 18-5005-0116; 18-5005-0118 and 18-5005-0119, as an <br />Economic Revitalization Area, and <br />WHEREAS, notice of the adoption of a Declaratory Resolution and the public <br />hearing before the Council has been published pursuant to Indiana Code 6-1.1-12.1-2.5; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing for the purposes of hearing all <br />remonstrance's and objections from interested persons; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the qualifications for an economic <br />revitalization area have been met. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION L The Common Council hereby confums its Declaratory Resolution <br />designating the area described herein as an Economic Revitalization Area for the <br />purposes of tax abatement. Such designation is for Personal property tax abatement only <br />and is limited to two (2) calendar years from the date of adoption of the Declaratory <br />Resolution by the Common Council. <br />SECTION IL The Common Council hereby determines that the property owner is <br />qualified for and is granted Personal property tax deduction for a period of (5) five years, <br />and further determines that the petition complies with Chapter 2, Article 6, of the <br />Municipal Code of the City of South Bend and Indiana Code 6-1.1-12 et sec . <br />SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br />adoption by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor. <br />Councilmember White made a motion to combine these bills for the purpose of Public <br />Hearing. Rouse <br />Member of the Common Council <br />Ms. Debbie Hauguel, 51798 Meadow Wood Ct., South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this bill. <br />Ms. Hauguel advised that Odyssian Technology is a high technology company focused <br />on technology innovation and creative product development related to advanced <br />lightweight composites, multifunctional structure, smart structure, and integrated systems <br />and is involved in developing technology products for both military and consumer <br />marketplace. Ms. Hauguel further advised that Odyssian Technology is purchasing two <br />buildings in the East Bank Development Area (EBDA). Plans are to renovate the 2,800 <br />square foot Colfax Avenue Building by making a new entry, adding windows, <br />redesigning the office space, adding a kitchen break room, conference room, engineering <br />center and restrooms that are handicap accessible. The facade will be reworked by <br />adding windows, new doors, lighting, landscaping, and paving the parking area. The <br />empty lot will be redeveloped into a courtyard with awrought-iron gate and a few <br />parking spaces. Security and perimeter lighting will be added.
