Friday March 17th. 1922. Office of the Baord Of Public <br />Safty, meeting called to order at 5 P.M. All members being present <br />Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. <br />FIRE DEP.-1RTMENT: <br />46 - -50 BILLS PRESENTED AND ALLOISED. <br />Pay - Roll first half of March 1922# .....:.................... $8,422.29 <br />Chief IrvinLk V. Sibrel, requested the Board to keep in mind <br />while it is considering a New Police Alarm system that one of the <br />primary needs of the fire Department is a private Telephone System , <br />He atated that 80 f of the calls answered. by the Fire Department are <br />still alarms comming over city phones to the central station and if <br />a private telephone was installed the house -man could relay the call <br />to all stations by this system and eliminate the loss of time through <br />the city operators. <br />ELECTRIC^T, DFi?ARTIFUT:- <br />Supt. Beaning reported work done by his department during the <br />week ending March /51�h. <br />HEIGHTS & TJEI'SURE DL <br />Byron B. Miller presented report of inspectionsofweights, <br />measures and Gas meters during the week ending March 9th.1922. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT:- <br />BILLS PRESENTED AND ALLOWED. <br />97 - Pay -roll first half March 1922 ......................... $6,672.79 <br />98 - Salaries Clerk & City Sealer... First half of March..... 125.00 <br />T6 <br />REQUISITIONS PRESENTED AND APPROVED. <br />113 - Toll Service. <br />114 - Office Supplies. <br />115 - printing Police Reports. <br />:116 - Gasoline. <br />117 - Hardware Suppllies. <br />118 - Repairing Semafores. <br />119 - Gasoline. <br />120 - llagnfying Glass. <br />Applications were received from Arthur J. Austin and Harry <br />A. Morris for positions in the Police department were ordered <br />placed on file. <br />The _following charges were prefered against office Joseph <br />Szweda CHARGE:- Neglect of duty, Niental incapacity and. general <br />incompetency. S?ECIFICATIONS :- Neglect of duty consists of Officer <br />failing to.arrest two attomible tire theives on the night of March <br />5th. 1922. Charges were filed by Chief Lane. <br />Mr. George T4. Platner President of the Park Board appeared <br />before the Board and suggested that this Board appoint a Motorcycle <br />man to patrol the Boulevards and parks which he stated would be more <br />efficent than to Nave a Park Policeman in each parkl� which would be <br />a saving to the city by so doing. <br />Mr. platner also brought up the matter of keeping flower beds <br />at the City Fire stations and stated that the City Horticulturist <br />would furnish flowers and suggested that the firemen prepair the <br />flower beds and after they are planted by the horticulturist they <br />could keep them in condition during the summer. <br />Mr. Dan Pyle suggested that an effort be made to secure prizes <br />for the best appearing flower bed at any of the stations prizes to <br />be givers by the business men and civic orginations.
