All members 'being present. <br />Minutes of previous meeting was read and approved. <br />Follvrwing requisitions were presented by Chief Sibrel and <br />approved by the Board;-- <br />1228-- mattresses <br />1.229-- supplies <br />1230-- supplies <br />1231-- supplies. <br />Motion -prevailed that application of Albert-Lind for <br />fireman be placed on file. <br />Supt. Beaning presented following requisitions which were <br />ap-orr o ved; - - <br />27b­ Salaries for the last half of Oct. 1921. <br />271-- new rubber cover for the Ford. car. <br />272-- hardware supplies, paint, etc., <br />273-- Electric sup-plies, dry cells, tape, etc., <br />274-- wiping solder <br />275— one fire box door and Flass dowers. <br />Supt. Beaning presented report of work done by his depart- <br />ment during week ending, October 19, 1921. <br />Motion prevailed that a platoon of police and a platoon <br />of firemen be instructed to attend funeral of Lottie A. All members being present. <br />ldi,nutes of previous meeting was read and approved. <br />Bills presented by Chief Sibrel were presented and allowed. <br />I'dotion prevailed that applications of George A. Glueckert, <br />harry Thomas, George E. Van Arsdel and Ralph R. Roberts for fireman <br />be placed on file. <br />Motion prevailed that Harry Thomas be appointed a member of <br />Fire Department. <br />I'vlotion prevailed that Percy Alford be promoted to position of <br />a Captain of the Fire Department and that Andrew Anderson be promoted to <br />position of a Lieutenant of the Fire Department. <br />;Motion prevailed that an ordinance be drafted asking for an <br />appropriation for employing twelve additional men on the Fire Department. <br />Chief Sibrel reported the death of Captain Thomas Hartford of <br />the Fire Department. I <br />By,unanimous vote the following was adopted;-- <br />"The Board of `_Public Safety in executive session desires to make <br />a record of the following action;-- <br />RESOT,VED - That the Fire Department of the City of South Bend, <br />has sustained a serious loss in the death of Captain Thomas Hartford, <br />whose efficient service extending over a long period of years was <br />always of the most exemplary character. <br />The Board therefore wishes to express its appreciation of his <br />long and faithful service and that a copy of this resolution be spread <br />upon the records and a copy mailed to his family." <br />1-lotion prevailed that the petition of Steve V.
