1113 <br />FriA-y. July 15. 1921. Office Board of Public Safety. <br />Meeting called to order at 6 P.M. All members being nresent. <br />Minutes of rrevious meeting were read and arproved. <br />Bills were -oresented and allowed. <br />Mr. Taylor a-npeared before Bn�,r& relative to <br />removing -moles used for fire boxes in Harter Heights addition, <br />stating that same were unsightly and th►t they desired that <br />wires be placed -underground. Mr. Taylor was instructed in detail. <br />by the Board -Is to how to secure the underground work in said <br />-ddition. <br />Officer Mathew J. Burnz-k was called before the <br />Bo-rd to -nswer to charges filed against him by Chief of Police. <br />Peter Kline for reporting for duty in -n intoxic-ted condition. <br />Officer Burc7nk denied charges. <br />Following witnesses were examined by the Board--- <br />Officers Michq.el- R7:ernka, Niels Hansen, A. G. Essex, AA^m RoTanski <br />and Chief Kline. <br />After ronqidering evidence the Board found the <br />Officer guilty of charges preferred -against him and he wq.,g <br />renrimanded by the Board for his actions. <br />Motion prevailed that trial be set for Friday, July <br />22.1921 on charges filed against Officer E. L. Baxter by <br />F. M. Forsyth, 514 E. Rnqers for ap'nointment as s <br />firemen was presented and placed on file, also petitions of <br />Homer R. White and Byron H. Jones. <br />Re-uipition 1151 for repairs and supplies presented <br />and. approved. <br />Surt, Benining presented report of work done by his <br />&Apartment during week ending July POth, 1921, <br />Surt. BeaninR presented following reouisitions which <br />were approved; -- 252 hardware supplies, 253- salaries for the <br />last half of July, 1921, 254- one outer casing and two inner <br />tubes both 30x3�-. <br />The Board went into session as a trial body to <br />hear chp.rges preferred against Officer E. L. Baxter by Mr. <br />F. M. Forsyth. <br />Attorney W. G. Crnbill appeared on behalf of Officer <br />E. L. Baxter and Judge Gilmer n.ppeared for Mr. F. M. Forsyth. <br />The following witnesses were sworn and examined, <br />being called by Judge Gilmer on behalf of Mr. Forsyth to <br />substantiate charges filed;-- F. M. Forsyth, Ernest Bpok-man, <br />Wm. H. Don hue, D. D. Kemper, Fred 6luss, D. W. HP=-n, Aline <br />Snntt, Minnie Borden, Miss. Cleda Goshert, Mrs. Schultz, Jacob <br />Bell. Mrs. Ross Me Kee, William Schultz and Roy Mn 4. <br />The following witnesses were sworn and- examined, <br />being called by Attorney Crabill in behalf of Officer Baxter:-- <br />A. B. Miles. George Penrose, Grover Dqil-y, George <br />Williams. Vivian Holycross, J. Landis, Frank Kuespert, Sergt. <br />Emil Luther, Officer A. G. Essex, Sergt. B. H. Roberts, Ed Stoll, <br />George Connell and Ernest Hoover. <br />After hearing the evidence the Beard went into <br />executive session and after considering same, Motion p i1vailed. <br />that Officer Bavter be found guilty of charges and be smissed. <br />Motion prevailed to adjourn. <br />ATTEST!
