REGULAR MEETING JUNE 15, 1981 Sig- J BID OPENING - DE -ICING MATERIALS (STREET DEPARTMENT) This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for De -Icing Materials for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Domtar Industries, Inc. Bid was signed by H. J. Miller, 4825 N. Scott St. non- collusion affidavit was in Schiller Park, Ill. order and a 10% bid bond was submitted.* 12,000 tons rock salt - $26.49 per ton, $317,880.00 12,000 tons rock salt - $24.99 per ton, $299,880.00 The Levy Co. Bid was signed by R. D. Marrese, non - P. 0. Box 540 collusion affidavit was in order and Portage, Ind. 46368 a 10% bid bond was submitted. Up to 10,000 tons Calcium Chloride Slag Sand Mixture $11.75 per ton. Mr. Leszczynski noted that no bids were received for the Calcium Chloride Sand or the Liquid Calcium Chloride. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the bids be referred to the Bureau of Streets for review and recommendation. Mr. Hill seconded the motion and it carried. BID OPENING - CAR WASHES (POLICE VEHICLES) This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for car washes for city police vehicles. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Comet Car Wash Bid was signed by Don Zwierzynski, 1804 Lincolnway West non- collusion affidavit was in South Bend, Ind. order and a certified check in the amount of $350.00 was submitted. Full Service, 0 -100 units /mo. $2.25 each Full Service, 100 or more units /mo. 2.15 each Wet Wash Only, 0 -100 units /mo. 1.75 each Wet Wash Only, 100 or more units /mo. 1.65 each *Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone advised the Board that Domtar submitted a bid bond in lieu of a certified check as required for out -of -state bidders. He informed the Board they have the option of notifying Domtar that they have 48- hours to submit the proper bid security (certified check). Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the Board allowed Domtar, Inc. 48 -hours to submit a certified check. Morton Salt Bid was signed by Thomas J. Butler, 110 N. Wacker Dr, non- collusion affidavit was in order r� Chicago, Ill. 60606 and a certified check in the amount of $30,048.00 was submitted. 12,000 tons rock salt - $25.04 per ton, $300,480.00 International Salt Co. Bid was signed by Donald B. Holman, Clarks Summitt, PA 18411 non- collusion affidavit was in order, and a certified check in the amount of $29,988.00 was submitted. 12,000 tons rock salt - $24.99 per ton, $299,880.00 The Levy Co.
