REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 15, 1981 <br />Sig- <br />J <br />BID OPENING - DE -ICING MATERIALS (STREET DEPARTMENT) <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for <br />De -Icing Materials for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Domtar Industries, Inc. Bid was signed by H. J. Miller, <br />4825 N. Scott St. non- collusion affidavit was in <br />Schiller Park, Ill. order and a 10% bid bond was submitted.* <br />12,000 tons rock salt - $26.49 per ton, $317,880.00 <br />12,000 tons rock salt - $24.99 per ton, $299,880.00 <br />The Levy Co. Bid was signed by R. D. Marrese, non - <br />P. 0. Box 540 collusion affidavit was in order and <br />Portage, Ind. 46368 a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Up to 10,000 tons Calcium Chloride Slag Sand Mixture $11.75 per ton. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that no bids were received for the Calcium <br />Chloride Sand or the Liquid Calcium Chloride. Mr. Leszczynski made <br />a motion that the bids be referred to the Bureau of Streets for review <br />and recommendation. Mr. Hill seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BID OPENING - CAR WASHES (POLICE VEHICLES) <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for car <br />washes for city police vehicles. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Comet Car Wash Bid was signed by Don Zwierzynski, <br />1804 Lincolnway West non- collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Ind. order and a certified check in the <br />amount of $350.00 was submitted. <br />Full Service, 0 -100 units /mo. $2.25 each <br />Full Service, 100 or more units /mo. 2.15 each <br />Wet Wash Only, 0 -100 units /mo. 1.75 each <br />Wet Wash Only, 100 or more units /mo. 1.65 each <br />*Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone advised the Board that Domtar <br />submitted a bid bond in lieu of <br />a certified check as required for <br />out -of -state bidders. He informed the Board they have the option <br />of notifying Domtar that they have <br />48- hours to submit the proper <br />bid security (certified check). <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the Board allowed Domtar, Inc. <br />48 -hours to submit a certified <br />check. <br />Morton Salt <br />Bid was signed by Thomas J. Butler, <br />110 N. Wacker Dr, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in order <br />r� <br />Chicago, Ill. 60606 <br />and a certified check in the amount <br />of $30,048.00 was submitted. <br />12,000 tons rock salt - $25.04 <br />per ton, $300,480.00 <br />International Salt Co. <br />Bid was signed by Donald B. Holman, <br />Clarks Summitt, PA 18411 <br />non- collusion affidavit was in order, <br />and a certified check in the amount <br />of $29,988.00 was submitted. <br />12,000 tons rock salt - $24.99 per ton, $299,880.00 <br />The Levy Co.
