9:35 a.m., on Monday, February 16, 1981, by President John E.
Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr.
Joseph E. Kernan present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was
also present.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and
carried, the minutes of the February 9, 1981, regular meeting of the
Board were approved as submitted.
OPENING OF BIDS AND BID AWARD — SALE OF DISPOSITION PARCEL NO. 2 -13,
IND. R -66 (TRIANGULAR PORTION IN FRONT OF MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM)
This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for the
sale of city -owned property bounded by St. Joseph, Colfax Street
and Michigan Street and more commonly referred to as Disposition
Parcel No. 2 -13, Ind. R -66. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication
of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which
were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski explained that the
property was valued at more than $1,000 and, by ordinance, the Board
was required to advertise to receive sealed bids for its purchase.
It was noted that the Board of Public Works and the Common Council
had previously approved the sale of the property. An offering sheet
had been prepared, listing the offering price of $39,958.00, subject
to a restriction limiting the use of the land to "park land" or "open
green space ", and requiring the owner to obtain permission from the
city prior to the construction of any structures on the above described
property. The following bid was opened and publicly read:
FBT Bancorp, Inc. $39,958.00
P. 0. Box 1602
South Bend, Indiana 46634
Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried,
the bid of FBT Bancorp, Inc. in the amount of $39,958.00 was approved,
subject to the restrictions set out in the specifications for sale
and also subject to approval and concurrence of the sale by the
Common Council.
AWARD BID - GASOLINE (TANK WAGON)
In a letter to the Board, Mr. Sean Watt, Director-of the Division of
Transportation, requested approval of the low bid of Renco Oil Company
for tank wagon deliveries of regular grade gasoline at $1.084 /gallon
and lead -free gasoline at $1.120 /gallon. It was noted that the bid
to Renco was not awarded on February 9, 1981, when the other bids for
gasoline and fuel were awarded because of an oversight. Upon a
motion made by Mr. Keran, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid
of Renco Oil Corporation for the above bid items was awarded.
APPROVE REQUEST TO RE- ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
Mr. Sean Watt, Director of the Division of Transportation, requested
permission to re- advertise to receive bids for the following items:
No. 1 Diesel Fuel, No. 1 Heating Oil and No. 2 Diesel Fuel,
No. 2 Heating 0il (tank wagon deliveries)
It was noted that, when bids were received on January 26, 1981, for
the gasoline and fuel oil items, no bids were received for the above
items. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and
carried, the request was approved, with bids to be opened by the
Board on March 2, 1981.
