REGULAR MEETING AN OCTOBER 13, 1980 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 1980, by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Richard L. Hill present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. McMahon and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of October 6, 1980, were approved as submitted. OPENING OF BIDS - BIRDSELL STREET CURB AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS This was the date set for receiving bids for the curb and sidewalk improvements for Birdsell Street (CD 79- 303 -C). The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Carl J. Reinke & Sons 721 N. College South Bend, Indiana $45,408.45 Ziolkowski Construction 1005 S. Lafayette South Bend, Indiana $39,875.00 Batteast Construction 430 E. LaSalle South Bend, Indiana Bid was signed by Harold G. Reinke, non - collusion affidavit was in order, and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, non- collusion affidavit was in order and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. Bid was signed by Robert V. Batteast, non - collusion affidavit was in order, and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. $36,205.46 McIntyre & Jones Bid was signed by Kenneth A. 2526 West 6th Street McIntyre, non - collusion affidavit Mishawaka, Indiana was in order, and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. $29,698.00 Rieth -Riley Construction Bid was signed by Richard D. Ruhlman, P. 0. Box 1775 non - collusion affidavit was in South Bend, Indiana order, and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. $29,488.63 Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3498. 1980 - CONFIRMED (BENDIX DR. & ALLEY This was the date set for holding a public hearing on Vacation Resolu- tion No. 3498, 1980, for the vacation of Bendix Drive from the southerly line of the Conrail Railroad right -of -way to a point 489 feet northeast, and the first east - west alley south of Linden Avenue from Bendix Drive to a point approximately 135 feet east, City of South Bend. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient.
