REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 16, 1980 <br />FILING OF PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY (HIGH INDUSTRIAL PARK) <br />Mr. McMahon stated that Mr. Curtiss A. Reynolds, Vice President of <br />F & D Rentals, Inc., and South Bend Tool & Die Company, was <br />petitioning for the vacation of a 14' alley meandering in an <br />easterly- westerly direction to High Street. The subject property <br />was being developed as an industrial park with a new street <br />access to all properties. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the petition was referred to <br />the Engineering Department, the Area Plan Commission and <br />Community Development for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDERS - ORANGE - COLFAX CONNECTOR <br />Mr. McMahon stated that two change orders necessary for the completion <br />of signal work at Colfax and LaPorte, and additional signalization <br />at the Olive and Orange intersection, were being submitted for approval <br />by the Board. The contractor for both change orders is Rieth -Riley <br />Construction and the than e orders were in the amounts of $7,118.50 <br />(Colfax and LaPorte) and 2,813.45 (Olive and Orange). Mr. McMahon <br />stated that the change orders had been reviewed by the Engineering <br />Department and were found to be in order. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr.. Hill and carried, the change orders in <br />the amounts of $7,118.50 and $2,813.45 were approved. <br />APPLICATION FOR OPEN AIR STAND (JAMES GESTO) <br />An application for an open air stand license from James W. or Lori K. <br />Gesto for the sale of fresh fruit and vegetables at the corner of <br />Logan and Jefferson was received by the Board. Permission for the <br />location of the stand had been received from the property owner, <br />Mr. Don M. Newman. Upon a motion: made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the application was referred to the Health Depart- <br />ment and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCK PARTY (1000 and 1100 BLOCK OF OAK STREET <br />A recommendation for approval of the block party in the 1000 and 1100 <br />blocks of Oak Street on July 4, 1980, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br />was received from Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the block party was approved. <br />APPROVE STREET SERVICES - WASHINGTON AND FALCON STREETS <br />A request of Missionary Dora Lottie to hold street services on the <br />corner of Washington and Falcon Streets during the first two weeks <br />of July was recommended favorably to Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. He recommended that Ms. Lottie <br />be restricted to the non - street portion of the right -of -way and not <br />directly or indirectly block traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF OPEN AIR STAND (FIREWORKS - 1346 NORTH IRONWOOD <br />The application for an open air stand license for the sale of fireworks <br />by Steve Crane at 1346 North Ironwood was recommended favorably by <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />Permission from the private property owner, Lung's Sunoco Service, was <br />received. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the application was approved provided the stand remains <br />on the private property of the gasoline station. <br />
