REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 10. 1980 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />4:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 10, 1980, by Mr. Joseph E. Kernan in <br />the absence of the Board President, with Mr. Kernan and Mr. Richard <br />L. Hill present. The regular meeting had been scheduled for Monday, <br />June 9, 1980, at 9:30 a.m., however, it had been re- scheduled to <br />June 10th due to lack of a quorum. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the minutes of the regular meeting of June 2, 1980, were approved <br />as submitted. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. Kernan stated that the following items would be added to the <br />agenda and considered by the Board immediately after filing of the <br />Street Light Outage Report: <br />Reqeust of Jaycees to operate a Dunk Tank at Ethnic Festival <br />Application of Eckankar for food booth at Ethnic Festival <br />Request to relocate Air Force fighter plane display from <br />Baer's block to Century Center parking lot <br />Request for block party (Oak Street) <br />Tent Sale (Eslinger) <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the above items were added to the agenda. <br />CANCEL BOARD MEETING OF JUNE 30, 1980 <br />Mr. Kernan announced that, because of the Fourth of July holidays to <br />be celebrated by city employees on Thursday and Friday, July 3 and 4, <br />1980, the regular meeting of the Board on Monday, June 30th, would <br />be cancelled. <br />AWARD BIDS - STREET DEPARTMENT DE -ICING CHEMICALS <br />Mr. John Baumgartner, Manager of the Bureau of Streets, submitted <br />his recommendation to the Board concerning the bids received for <br />de -icing chemicals. He recommended that the following bids be <br />awarded: <br />The Levy Company Calcium Chloride Slag Sand Mixture $11.25 /ton <br />Medusa Aggregate Calcium Chloride Sand 10.15 /ton <br />Diamond Crystal Salt Rock Salt 33.65/ton <br />Morton Salt Rock Salt 26.94/ton <br />International Salt Rock Salt 31.49 /ton <br />Mr. Kernan stated that it was being recommended that awards be made to <br />all bidders, except Domtar Industries because the proper bid security <br />had not been furnished, thereby enabling the city to use all the <br />companies as sources for the de -icing chemicals if needed. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />recommendation of Mr. Baumgartner was approved and the above bids <br />were awarded. <br />AWARD BID - STREET DEPARTMENT SWEEPER <br />Mr. John Baumgartner, Manager of the Bureau of Streets, submitted his <br />recommendation to the Board concerning the bid received for a Street <br />Department sweeper. He recommended that the sole bid of Ries Equip- <br />ment Company, for a 1973 re- conditioned Elgin Pelican Sweeper in the <br />amount of $23,500.00 be awarded. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved and <br />the bid awarded to Ries Equipment Company. <br />7 <br />
