*Special Recognition* <br />(Ir <br />Local Heroes O�. <br />After a Notre Dame Women's Basketball Game p <br />on November 5th, two Washington High School students helped to <br />resuscitate a woman who was unconscious and struggling to breathe. <br />Using training that they had learned in the classroom, Lauren Miller and <br />Malcolm White performed CPR on the woman until paramedics arrived. <br />Congratulations to these two young heroes who helped to save a life. <br />Thanks to the SB Fire Medic 4 A -Shift for their response and their work! <br />t Thank you for a job well done ► <br />Christmas Tree Pickup <br />Your old Christmas tree can be a gift to the environment. As part of ! <br />Mayor Luecke's Clean City initiative, South Bend offers recycling for all ! <br />i natural Christmas trees at Organic Resources. All trees are recycled into <br />high quality mulch, which is provided, free, to South Bend residents. <br />• Drop -off - Dec. 28 through Thursday, Jan. 15, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., <br />seven days a week. Indiana. <br />Private fireworks may be set off ONLY on the user's property, the property <br />of someone who has consented to the use of fireworks, or at a special dis- i <br />i charge location designated by the State Fire Marshal. <br />! • Fireworks may not be discharged on public property, such as in streets or ! <br />! parks, without special permits issued by the State Fire Marshal and local Fire ! <br />Chief. Violations can result in fines and criminal charges. The owner or <br />occupant will then be responsible for the cost of <br />i removal. <br />The Dept. of Code Enforcement works with the <br />Police Dept. to make sure abandoned vehicles are <br />removed from city streets, especially during the <br />I winter months. Abandoned vehicles are hazardous <br />and obstruct snow <br />removal crews from <br />clearing streets for the <br />safety of emergency <br />I vehicles and the general <br />public.
