Luecke, Mayor of South Bend <br />Councilmember Roland Kelly made the presentation for this Resolution by reading it in <br />its entirety. Councilmember Kelly stated that he would personally deliver the Resolution <br />to Marian Aronson. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this Resolution. <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Kuspa seconded the motion which carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3682-07 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, HONORING THE <br />ENTIRE SOUTH BEND POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT AND ESPECIALLY <br />SERGEANT BILL KRAUS FOR HIS <br />SERVICES AS PART OF THE "BEST IN <br />THE STATE POLICE DEPARTMENT" <br />AWARD AS PART OF THE STATE OF <br />INDIANA'S OPERATION PULL OVER <br />SAFETY CAMPAIGN <br />Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes that <br />recently more that 125 law enforcement agencies from throughout the State of Indiana <br />gathered to attend the 12d` Annual Operation Pull Over Banquet which was hosted by the <br />Governor's Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving which is a division of the <br />Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to pay tribute to those police officers and police <br />departments who helped make Operation Pull Over such a success; and <br />Whereas, Operation Pull Over is a program designed to inform and promote <br />awareness of seatbelt use and the reduction of injuries that their use can provide with this <br />public safety campaign being part of a comprehensive impaired driving prevention <br />program organized by the U. S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic <br />Safety Administration which focuses on high visibility law enforcement and heightened <br />public awareness safety programs; and <br />Whereas, the South Bend Common Council is extremely proud to recognize all <br />of the men and women of the South Bend Police Department and in particular the <br />leadership of Division Chief Darryl Boykins and Sergeant Bill Kraus who were <br />recognized for their outstanding efforts by "demonstrating an exceptional commitment to <br />reducing the number of crashes and traffic related fatalities on Indiana's roadways" and <br />
