REGULAR MEETING <br />Officer's Birthday <br />Floating <br />DECEMBER 8 2010 101 <br />SECTION II. That for all sworn police officers who are assigned to work as their regular <br />work schedule, 6 days on and 3 days off, there shall be no paid holidays. The following dates are <br />designated as Critical Duty Days: <br />New Year's Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />Christmas Eve <br />Christmas Day <br />New Year's Eve <br />Saturday January 1, 2011 <br />Monday, May 30, 2011 <br />Monday July 4, 2011 <br />Thursday, November 24, 2011 <br />Saturday, December 24, 2011 <br />Sunday, December 25, 2011 <br />Saturday, December 31, 2011 <br />For purposes of the Critical Duty Day stipend, the Critical Duty Day shall start at 6:00 <br />a.m., and last 24 hours. <br />SECTION III. Officers assigned to the South Bend Community School Corporation <br />shall, while so assigned, follow the holiday schedule set by the South Bend Community School <br />Corporation for its clerical employees. Martin, Clerk <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 81 -2010 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC <br />SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA REORGANIZING THE RANKS OF <br />THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon a motion by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried, the following Resolution <br />was approved by the Board of Public Safety: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 81-2010 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY REORGANIZING THE <br />RANKS OF THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, in the months of June through September, 2009, the Board of Public Safety <br />through its appointed agent, Charles Leone, and other members of the City's Advisory <br />Negotiating Team negotiated a new one year wage package and Working Agreement with the <br />Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 36, the representative of the sworn members of South Bend <br />Police Department excluding the ranks of Captain and above; and <br />WHEREAS, during the negotiations the parties agreed that there should be a <br />restructuring of the ranks so that eventually the highest non - supervisory rank in the South Bend <br />Police Department will be Patrolman First Class and the rank of Corporal will be phased out; and <br />WHEREAS, the financial constraints upon the City at this time required that this full <br />restructuring take place over a number of years but that the intent is to benefit pensioners and not <br />to provide an interim windfall raise to some current sworn members; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety on December 16, 2009 passed Resolution 61- <br />2009 which addressed and partially accomplished the reorganization; and <br />WHEREAS, on September 30, 2010, the South Bend Common Council passed the Salary <br />
