Engineering stated this encroachment is in violation of placement in <br />a clear zone in a forty (40) MPH speed limit location. He noted the brick mailbox has already <br />been installed. The requirement in the clear zone in this speed zone is eighteen (18) inches back. <br />Mr. Littrell noted the mailbox does not meet the requirements and is a hazard to motorists <br />involved in an accident. He stated the structure could create severe injuries if struck. Mr. Littrell <br />stated if the Board approves this, Mr. Chambliss should provide an indemnification for the City. <br />Mr. Gilot made a motion that the request be denied, and the mailbox be removed. Mr. Inks <br />seconded the motion, which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE THE S UARE BLOCK <br />ENCOMPASSING THE FIRST AND SECOND NORTH /SOUTH ALLEYS EAST OF <br />SHERMAN STREET• ROSE STREET BETWEEN SAID ALLEYS- AND THE EAST /WEST <br />ALLEY SOUTH OF ROSE BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND NORTH /SOUTH <br />ALLEYS <br />Mr. Gilot indicated that Ms. Mary A. Miller and Ruth A. Amos, 930 Rose Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana 46616, have submitted a request to vacate the above referenced area. Mr. Gilot advised <br />the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the <br />
