391 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 19, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 1979 by President Patrick <br />1"I. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also in attendance. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the February 12, 1979 <br />meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes <br />be approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and <br />it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted receipt of three items after the posting of the <br />meeting agenda. He made a motion to add to the agenda a recommendation <br />from the Fire Department on the Turnout Coats, a petition to vacate <br />an alley and a recommendation to accept the bids for Street <br />Department vehicles. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS —SELF- CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for sixteen self - contained <br />breathing apparatus units. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Midwest Fire & Safety Equip. Co. <br />Bid was signed by Thomas Frederick, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - Survivair Model E- 9838 -22 - $529.00 - $8,464.00 <br />Alternate - Mine Model 401 $522.28 - $8,356.48 <br />Alternate - Mine Model 401 $572.83 $9,165.28 <br />Centurion Fire & Safety Equip. Co. Bid was signed by Daniel Warren, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in order and a certified check was submitted. <br />Bid - Survivair Model E- 9838 -22 - $555.00 - $8,880.00 <br />Halterman's General Fire Safety Equip. Co. Bid was signed by Lessel L. <br />Halterman, non - collusion <br />affidavit was in order and <br />a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Survivair Model E- 9838 -22 - $513.60 - $8,217.60 <br />Hawk Fire Apparatus Bid was signed by D. M. Fridlin, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Survivair Model E- 9383 -22 - $527.00 - $8,432.00 <br />HEARING ON DENIAL OF POOL HALL LICENSE FOR JOHN BRINSON CONTINUED <br />The Board noted receipt of a letter from City Controller Peter <br />H. Mullen to John Brinson advising him that his application for <br />renewal of a pool hall license at 1240 W. Washington Avenue had <br />been denied and that a hearing on the matter was scheduled for <br />today. Attorney Timothy McLaughlin was present on behalf of <br />Mr. Brinson. Mr. McLaughlin requested a two -week continuance <br />to allow him to prepare information to submit to the Board. <br />
