30JL <br />REGULAR MEETING. FEBRUARY 5, 1979 <br />SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET - IRISH HILLS DEVELOPMENT <br />The Title Sheet approving the plans for sewer construction in <br />the Irish Hills Development, east of Ironwood and north of <br />Ireland Road was submitted to the Board. The Project is being <br />constructed by Edward Rose of Indiana and the Engineering <br />Department has reviewed and approved the plans. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the <br />title sheet approving the plans was signed. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE PARK AVENUE AND MANI1'OU PLACE ON JUNE 10 FILED <br />The Park Avenue Neighborhood Association submitted a request <br />to close Park Avenue, between Riverside Drive and LaMonte Terrace, <br />and Manitou Place, from Forest Avenue to Park Avenue, on Sunday, <br />June 10 for a Tour of Homes. Closing is requested from 11:00 a.m. <br />to 6:00 p.m. to provide pedestrian safety. A similar event was <br />held last year which attracted two thousand visitors. The Association <br />will provide a Certificate of Insurance to hold the City harmless <br />from liability.. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE <br />The Chet Waggoner Little League submitted a request to hold an <br />Opening Day Parade on Saturday, May 19. The parade is to begin <br />at the Knights of Columbus Parking Lot and end at the Little <br />League park and a route was submitted. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and "fighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Detail for review and recommendation. <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3470 <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the, petition of Air Products and Chemicals <br />to vacat e the east -west alley between Lots 48 and 49 and 30 and 31 <br />between Sample and Garst Street, had been reviewed. The Community <br />Development Department and the Area Plan Commission staff report <br />no objection to the proposed vacation. The Engineering Department <br />reported no objection to the vacation subject to existing utility <br />easements and to the requirements of the Fire Department. Mr. <br />McMahon noted receipt of a letter from the petitioners indicating <br />they plan to blacktop the area and will provide an access road <br />at all times for emergency. vehicles. B/C Edward Szymkowiak of the <br />Fire Department reviewed the letter and advised the Board that <br />it met the Fire Department requirements. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the reports were <br />ordered filed and the following resolution was adopted: <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3470 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, That it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />The east -west alley between Lots 48 and 49 running east <br />from Lafayette Street between Sample Street and Garst <br />Street continuing on between Lots 30 and 31 east to <br />Main Street. <br />Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities and the <br />Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain <br />any facilities, including, but not limited to, the following: <br />electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer, surface water control <br />structures and ditches, within the vacated right of way, unless such <br />rights are released by the individual Utilities. <br />
