2'70 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 9, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:50 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 1978 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone was also in attendance. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that the minutes of the October 2, 1978 meeting <br />had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved <br />as submitted. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BIDS OPENED - SPRINGS AND MATTRESSES FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for springs and mattresses <br />for the Fire Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />J. E. Walz, Inc. Bid was signed by John R. Walz, <br />South Bend, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a certified check <br />was submitted with the bid. <br />Bid - 78 sets Sealy Posturpedic Springs <br />and Mattresses @ $114.00 - $8892.00 <br />Interiors for Business, Inc. Bid was signed by John S. Mills, <br />Elkhart, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - 78 sets Beautyrest Springs and <br />Mattresses @ 139.00 - $10,842.00 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Fire Department for review and <br />recommendation. <br />BIDS OPENED - POLICE PATROL CARS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for approximately thirty -five <br />police patrol cars. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were <br />found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />Basney Ford Bid was signed by James Basney, <br />South Bend, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - 30 1979 Ford LTD 4 -door sedans - $5715.29 - $171,458.70 <br />5 1979 Ford LTD II 4 -door sedans - $5701.29 - $28,506.45 <br />Rustproofing Option at $40.00 per vehicle <br />Gates Chevrolet Co. Bid was signed by Jay L. Poland, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid— 35 1979 Impala 4 -door sedans - $6019.69 - $210,689.15 <br />Rustrpoofing optional at $55.00 per unit <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried <br />the bids were referred to the Police Department for review and <br />recommendation. <br />
