��" <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 1978 by President Patrick <br />M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy <br />City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />August 28 had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be <br />approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it <br />carried. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. Mullen noted that he would like a request to advertise for <br />the lease of two automobiles be added to the agenda. Mr. Mullen <br />moved that this be added to the agenda, Mr. McMahon seconded the <br />motion and it carried. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS TO LEASE TWO AUTOMOBILES <br />Mr. Mullen made a request to the Board to advertise for bids <br />for the lease of two automobiles for the Department of Administra- <br />tion and Finance. Mr. McMahon moved that this request to advertise <br />be approved. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. Bids <br />will be received on September 18, 1978 at 9:30 a.m. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - BENDIX DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Intersection Improve- <br />ments at Bendix Drive and Bertrand and Bendix.Drive and Linden. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News, which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Ziolkowski Construction Co. - Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone <br />advised the Board that the notary was not signed on the non - <br />collusion affidavit and should be rejected. Mr. McMahan made <br />a motion that the bid of Ziolkowski Construction Company be <br />rejected. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Rieth -Riley Construction Co. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $25,459.20 <br />Bid was signed by Richard D. <br />Ruhlman, non - collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion to refer the bid to the Bureau of <br />Public Construction for review and recommendation. Mr. Mullen <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ROCK SALT, LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE AND <br />CALCIUM CHLORIDE SAND MIXTURE <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for rock salt, liquid <br />calcium chloride and calcium chloride sand mixture for the <br />Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Rock Salt <br />Diamond Crystal Salt Co. Bid was signed by B. G. Jordan, <br />St. Clair, Michigan non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a certified check was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - $22.79 per ton - Total $227,900.00 <br />
