230 <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />AUGUST 23, 1978 <br />A.-special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 1978 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon,.with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Brunner present. <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the purpose of the special meeting was <br />for review of bids for snow removal equipment. John: Stancati, <br />Director of Utilities, had the following recommendation: <br />That the bid of Deeds Equipment Company, Inc. be accepted <br />for the snow.equipment with the deletion of units (Street): <br />Army Unit 1, Army Unit 2, Army Unit 3, Unit 81 <br />for a bid price of $80,593.00. He also recommended that Deeds <br />bid for the Bureau of Sewers equipment in the amount of $33,744.00 <br />and the Bureau of Water Works equipment in the amount of $13,994.00 <br />be accepted. Mr. McMahon noted that in regard to Deeds Equipment <br />Company, 90% of the equipment is available immediately. They will <br />start outfitting the trucks tomorrow and will be completed in four <br />weeks. Seven V- Blades will be delivered by November 1. <br />Mr. Stancati recommended that the bid of Seastrom, Inc. for the <br />Force- Feed.Loader be accepted at a total bid price of $49,888.00. <br />In regard to the.Force -Feed Loader, Reid - Holcomb's bid was in the <br />amount of $48,016.00. This bid did not include items that were <br />included in Seastrom's bid. After adding those, Reid - Holcomb's <br />bid came to $49,176.00, or $712.00 less than Seastrom. In view <br />of the fact that Seastrom's bid included some extras and a.two <br />week delivery date, it was recommended that the bid for a Force- <br />Feed Loader be awarded to Seastrom. The Board was informed that <br />personal examination of the Athey Force -Feed Loader model 7 -12 <br />was made and showed it to be a new machine. A notarized affidavit <br />from Finkbiner Equipment Company was submitted to the Board <br />stating that the Force -Feed Loader is new and unused at this time. <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Street Department equipment be <br />awarded to Deeds Equipment Company immediately. Mr. Brunner <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Force -Feed Loader, Bureau of <br />Sewers and Bureau of Water Works bids be awarded, subject to <br />funding. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the meeting adjourned at 9:22 a.m.) <br />ATTEST: <br />Patricia DeClercq, Clerk <br />In the absence of Patricia DeClercq, Clerk of the Board of Public <br />Works, I, Maryrose Putz, am assuming all responsibility for the <br />Board of Public Works meeting of August 23, 1978. <br />
