224 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 21, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 1978 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Mullen present and Mr. Brunner <br />absent. Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the August <br />14 meeting and he made a motion that the minutes be approved as <br />submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted that several items were received after the posting <br />of the meeting agenda. He made a motion that River Bend Plaza <br />requests, a letter from Councilman Mary Adams, a request to advertise <br />for bids for Bendix Drive Improvements and an addendum to the bid <br />award for street sweepers be added to the agenda. Mr. Mullen seconded <br />the`motion and it carried. <br />MEETING DATE CHANGED <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion to change the regular meeting of the Board <br />from Monday, September 4 to Tuesday, September 5 because of the Labor <br />Day holiday. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SNOW CONTROL EQUIPMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Snow Control Equipment. <br />The Board had authorized re- advertising for bids for this equipment <br />in an attempt to encourage a larger number of bidders. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Deeds Equipment Company Bid was signed by John K. Brennan, <br />Lawrence, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in order <br />and,-.a 5 %.-bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Various pieces of equipment to modify trucks <br />For <br />Bureau of <br />Streets <br />- $98,716.00 <br />For <br />Bureau of <br />Sewers <br />- 33,744.00 <br />For <br />Bureau of <br />Water <br />- 13,994.00 <br />Total <br />- X146,454.00 <br />Reid Holcomb Company <br />Bid was signed by R. T. Conant, <br />Fort Wayne, <br />Indiana <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - One 1979 Athey Model 7012 Force -Feed Loader - $48,016.00 <br />Delivery Date - January, 1979 <br />Seastrom, Inc. <br />Indianapolis, Indiana Bid was signed by E. R.
