97 REGULAR MEETING CLAIMS APPROVED APRIL 24, 1978 . Michael L. Vance, Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board Claim Docket Numbers 6931 through 7603 and recommended approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 6931 through 7603 and directed that checks for payment be issued. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED The Street Light Outage report for the period April 11 through April 21 was submitted to the Board. The report indicated seventy -six outages. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was ordered filed. "PROJECT EFFECT" CLASS MEMBERS INTRODUCED Dr. William Hojnacki was present with members from "Project Effect" at Indiana University at South Bend. Dr. Hojnacki noted that these students are being trained in monitoring energy usage and efficiency and it was felt that the class should be exposed to governmental bodies. Dr. Hojnacki said he felt that the Board of Public Works, as the City body dealing with almost all phases of City Government from contracts and bidding to sale of property, would be a representative meeting for the class members to attend. RECOMMENDATION TO COMMEND CITY DEPARTMENTS INVOLVED IN CLEAN UP Mr. Mullen said it was his opinion that the City Departments involved in last Saturday's clean -up should be commended for the fine job they did. He noted that he had heard good reports about the job done and would encourage them to continue their efforts for the clean -up planned for April 29. Mr. McMahon said he concurred in the recommendation. More than 400 loads of trash were picked up on Saturday, with the balance to be completed today. Several City departments were involved. The Board directed that a letter of commendation be prepared and mailed to each Department involved in the clean -up campaign. REQUEST FOR REPORT ON CHUCKHOLE PATCHING PROGRAM Mr. Mullen stated that the Street Department did an outstanding job on the patching of chuckholes this spring, particularly in view of the extremely bad winter weather. There has been much good comment and few complaints regarding the patching of chuckholes this year. He requested that the Board ask the Street Department to provide a report on the amount of materials used and the manhours spent in chuckhole repair, with the report to be submitted next Monday, Play 1. There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
