97 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CLAIMS APPROVED <br />APRIL 24, 1978 . <br />Michael L. Vance, Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board <br />Claim Docket Numbers 6931 through 7603 and recommended approval. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 6931 through 7603 <br />and directed that checks for payment be issued. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period April 11 through <br />April 21 was submitted to the Board. The report indicated seventy -six <br />outages. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the report was ordered filed. <br />"PROJECT EFFECT" CLASS MEMBERS INTRODUCED <br />Dr. William Hojnacki was present with members from "Project Effect" <br />at Indiana University at South Bend. Dr. Hojnacki noted that <br />these students are being trained in monitoring energy usage and <br />efficiency and it was felt that the class should be exposed to <br />governmental bodies. Dr. Hojnacki said he felt that the Board of <br />Public Works, as the City body dealing with almost all phases of <br />City Government from contracts and bidding to sale of property, <br />would be a representative meeting for the class members to attend. <br />RECOMMENDATION TO COMMEND CITY DEPARTMENTS INVOLVED IN CLEAN UP <br />Mr. Mullen said it was his opinion that the City Departments involved <br />in last Saturday's clean -up should be commended for the fine job <br />they did. He noted that he had heard good reports about the job <br />done and would encourage them to continue their efforts for the <br />clean -up planned for April 29. Mr. McMahon said he concurred in the <br />recommendation. More than 400 loads of trash were picked up on <br />Saturday, with the balance to be completed today. Several City <br />departments were involved. The Board directed that a letter of <br />commendation be prepared and mailed to each Department involved in <br />the clean -up campaign. <br />REQUEST FOR REPORT ON CHUCKHOLE PATCHING PROGRAM <br />Mr. Mullen stated that the Street Department did an outstanding job <br />on the patching of chuckholes this spring, particularly in view of <br />the extremely bad winter weather. There has been much good comment <br />and few complaints regarding the patching of chuckholes this year. <br />He requested that the Board ask the Street Department to provide <br />a report on the amount of materials used and the manhours spent in <br />chuckhole repair, with the report to be submitted next Monday, Play 1. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m. <br />
