32
REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 27, 1978
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 1978 with all members present.
Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present.
CHANGES IN AGENDA APPROVED
Mr. McMahon noted that a request from John DeLee, Building Com-
missioner, for attendance at a Conference was received after the
posting of the meeting agenda. Mr. Mullen noted that Item 18,
the proposed lease for parking garage refinancing, should be struck
from the agenda. In response to a question on this item, Mr. Brunner
reported that the City is required to have the signatures of two -
thirds of the bond holders and does not have them as yet. It is
anticipated that the required signatures will be secured in two weeks
and the matter will be on the agenda at that time. Upon motion
made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board
added the conference request to the agenda and struck Item 18,
the parking garage refinancing lease.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED
Mr. McMahon reported that the minutes of the February 20, 1978
meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be
accepted as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried.
REQUEST TO ATTEND SCHOOL APPROVED
John DeLee, Building Commissioner, requested permission for attendance
by members of the Bureau of Building Staff at the Spring School of
the Indiana Association of Building Officials to be held March 5
through 8 at Vincennes University. Funds are available in the
1978 budget for attendance. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded
by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved.
BIDS OPENED - REHABILITATION OF NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER
This was the date set for receiving bids for the rehabilitation of
the Northeast Neighborhood Center, located at 803'N. Notre Dame",
Avenue. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication `of notice in the
South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be
sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read:
Tom Ford Home Improvement Co. Bid was signed by Tom Ford,
non- collusion affidavit was in order
and a certified check was submitted
with the bid.
Bid - $19,338.20
Carl Reinke & Son, Inc. Bid Form 96 was not filled out as required
by the State Board of Accounts. This is a fatal defect and disqualified
the bid. The Certified Check submitted with the bid was returned to
the bidder.
Black Casteel Bid was signed by R. V. Casteel,
non- collusion affidavit was in
order and a 10% bid bond was submitted.
Bid - $22,985.00
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried,
the bids were referred to the Bureau of Housing for review and
recommendation.
1
