r- <br />L7 <br />425>:i <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 5. 1980 <br />PARADE REQUEST - SOUTH BEND CHAPTER OF INDIANA BLACK EXPO <br />A request was received from the Indiana Black Expo, Inc., for <br />permission to hold a small parade in the community starting at <br />Hansel Center to LaSalle Park. A specific date for the parade <br />was not requested, and the letter indicated that representatives <br />of the group would like to meet with the Board to discuss in <br />detail the request. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was filed. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES (1114 SOUTH CARROLL <br />STREET AND 1001 WEST WASHINGTON) <br />A request to purchase a city -owned lot at 1114 South Carroll <br />Street was received from Mrs. Rosie Mae Redmon, 1118 S. Carroll. <br />Mr. James L. Mullins, 1005 W. Washington, also inquired into the <br />possibility of purchasing the city -owned lot located at 1001 <br />West Washington. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the requests were referred to the various <br />city agencies for a determination as to whether or not the city <br />need retain the lots. <br />APPROVAL OF LEASE EXTENSIONS <br />A lease extension for one year from Medow Leasing was requested <br />for lease of a 1978 Dodge Aspen, Serial #NL45D8B324070, for the <br />Bureau of Employment and Training, to May 19, 1981. It was noted <br />that all stipulations of the original lease agreement would remain <br />unchanged; however, there would be a reduction of $90 per month <br />in the monthly rental fee. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the lease extension was approved. <br />A one -year lease extension to May 1, 1981, for lease of a Copier II <br />and Collator from IBM Corporation for Community Development was <br />requested by Fiscal Officer, Cande Marin. It was noted that the <br />monthly rental for that period will be $231.60 for the copier and <br />$77.20 for the collator. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the lease extension was approved. <br />A request for a one -year extension of a lease with Medow Leasing <br />for a 1979 Dodge B300 Sportsman, Serial No. B36JF9K307718, for <br />the Youth Service Bureau, was requested by Bonnie Strycker. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. McMahon and carried, <br />the lease extension to May 18, 1981, was approved. It was noted <br />that all other stipulations of the lease agreement remained unchanged. <br />APPROVE STREET CLOSINGS - ETHNIC FESTIVAL <br />A report was received from Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, concerning his recommendation for <br />street closings fo rthe 1980 Ethnic Festival. In concurrence <br />with the Traffic Division, Mr. Wadzinski recommended the following: <br />1. Close Michigan Street from Washington to Jefferson, <br />from and including July 2nd thru July 7th. <br />2. Washington Street (to be used only if space requests <br />exceeds availability of space on Michigan Street). <br />a. Restrict parking on both sides from Michigan <br />Street to Woodward Court, beginning July 2nd <br />thru July 7th for installation of booths. <br />b. As in past years, Washington Street is to <br />be closed during the Festival itself <br />(July 4th thru July 6th). <br />
