74 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 11, 1980 <br />APPROVED REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - STREET DEPARTMENT <br />MATERIALS AND SIX SINGLE AXLE CHASSIS (HEAVY DUTY DIESEL TRUCK) <br />AND FOUR SINGLE AXLE CHASSIS (SMALL DIESEL TRUCK) <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the requests to advertise for bids for street materials, <br />six heavy duty diesel truck chassis and four small diesel truck <br />chassis were approved. It was indicated that bids would be <br />received and opened by the Board at its meeting on February <br />25, 1980. <br />REQUEST FOR PARADE - CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE <br />The Board received a request from the Chet Waggoner Little <br />League to hold its annual parade on May 17, 1980, starting at <br />8:30 a.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall on North Michigan <br />Street. It was indicated that the route proposed was the same <br />as the route used in 1979. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was referred <br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO REMOVE TREE FROM CITY -OWNED LOT - 505 E. MILTON <br />The Board received a request for permission to remove a large <br />weeping willow tree from a city -owned lot at 505 East Milton <br />from Reverend William Miller who owned property adjacent and <br />west of the city lot. It was indicated that the roots were <br />very large and were causing breaks in the foundation of his home, <br />in addition to the periodic cleaning of his sewer lines. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. McMahon and carried, <br />the request was approved at the expense of Reverend Miller. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED LOT - 2505 WEST LAWTON <br />The Board received a request from Attorneys Roemer and Mintz on <br />behalf of their client, Thomas Kinnucan, for the purchase of <br />the property at 2505 West Lawton, legally described as Lot No. <br />74 of the West End Subdivision. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was <br />referred to the appropriate city agencies for review and comments. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR ROAD RUN - BROOKS SHOE COMPANY AND <br />SENATOR RICHARD LUGAR <br />Mr. McMahon indicated that the Brooks Shoe Company, in cooperation <br />with Senator Richard Lugar, was requesting permission to hold a <br />physical fitness road run on September 21, 1980, commencing at <br />9:00 a.m., at Pinhook Park. He indicated that the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Traffic Division had concurred and <br />recommended approval of the run. The route as submitted was <br />approved, and the petitioner was requested to contact Captain <br />James Sweitzer of the Traffic Division no less than two months <br />in advance of the run date to arrange for necessary traffic <br />control and manpower. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was approved. <br />REOUEST FOR "NO PARKING" SIGN - 835 SOUTH KENMORE <br />The Board received a request for a "no parking" sign in front <br />of 835 South Kenmore from a Mrs. Josephine Villarreal who <br />indicated that employees of the Torrington Company park continually <br />in front of her home, and she had a handicapped daughter who <br />needed transportation to and from Logan Industries by means of a <br />van which was to pick her up in front of the home. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the matter was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />for review and recommendation. <br />
