264 <br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 26. 1979 <br />PIGEON CONTROL PROPOSAL - ACCEPTED <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the Board had requested proposals <br />for pigeon control on River Bend Plaza and Pier Park for one <br />year, from December 1, 1979 through November 30, 1980. The <br />following proposals were received: <br />Arrow Services, Inc. <br />Franklin Pest Control <br />Pritchard Services <br />Indiana Terminix Co. <br />$75.00 first service <br />$75.00 per month Total - $900.00 <br />$52.00 per month Total - $624.00 <br />$495.00 initial cost <br />$95.00 per ,month Total - $1635.00 <br />$95.00 initial service <br />$50.00 per month Total - $645.00 <br />Paid -in- Advance Discount $612.75 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the proposal of Indiana Terminix Co. of $612.75 was accepted <br />and referred to the Controller's Office and River Bend Plaza <br />for implementation of the service. <br />DENIAL OF TAXI LICENSE - DENNIS BANICKI <br />Peter H. Mullen reported to the Board that he concurred with <br />the recommendation of the Police Department that the taxi license <br />application of Dennis Banicki should be denied, based on the fact <br />that he lied on his application and did not include the fact that <br />he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and <br />delivery of a controlled substance, that he was convicted and <br />received eighteen months probation. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, with Mr. Mullen <br />abstaining, the recommendation was approved and the taxi license <br />denied. The applicant is to be notified of his right to a hearing <br />on the matter before the Board. <br />APPROVAL OF INSTALLATION OF LIGHTS ON RIGHT -OF -WAY <br />The Board received a request from Caparell`s Cafe, 3421- West <br />Sample Street, to install lights in the right -of -way on the <br />Falcon Street side of the restaurant. An insurance certificate <br />will be furnished to hold the City harmless. The Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting reviewed the request and has no objection <br />with the understanding that the luminaires shall contain no <br />larger than 100 watt incandescent bulbs, that neither the City <br />of South Bend nor Indiana and Michigan Electric Company shall <br />maintain, repair, replace or supply power to the lights and <br />that after installation if modifications are needed for public <br />works improvements or to insure safety for vehicular and <br />pedestrian traffic they will be made at the owner's expense. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon,., seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the request was approved subject to the stipulations <br />as noted. <br />n <br />
