206 <br />REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 1, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, October 1, 1979 by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr, Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the September 19 special <br />meeting of the Board had been reviewed and he made a motion that the <br />minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion <br />and it carried. Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the September <br />24 regular meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that the <br />minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion <br />and it carried. Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the September <br />27 special meeting of the Board had been reviewed and he made a motion <br />that they be approve as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion <br />and it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted receipt of a petition to vacate an alley after the <br />posting of the meeting agenda and he made a motion that it be added <br />at this time. Per. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried, <br />PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY FILED <br />Lillie Ender, et al, files a petition to vacate the second east -west <br />alley between Lots 46 and 47 north of North Shore Boulevard, running <br />east from Clover Street, a distance of 111.5 feet to the north -south <br />alley. The petitioners indicated that the alley is not maintained and <br />that residents of a nearby apartment park in the alley making it <br />impassable. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the petition was filed and referred to the Engineering <br />Department, Area Plan Commission and Community Development Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - GARAGE PORTION, FIRST BANK CENTER PROJECT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the garage portion of <br />the First Bank Center Project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News, which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Bid Package #105 - Pavement Marking <br />Wright Construction Company <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />Bid - $17,738.00 <br />Bid Package #106 - Structural Concrete <br />H, G. Christman Construction Co. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $2;429,000.00 <br />Bid was signed by.Fred G. <br />Wright III, non- collusion <br />affidavit was in order and <br />a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Howard E. <br />Emmons, non - collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a 5% bid <br />bond was submitted. <br />1 <br />
