1'72 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 20, 1979 <br />BLOCK PARTY REQUEST FILED - WEST SIDE DEMOCRATIC CLUB <br />The West Side Civic and Democratic Club submitted a request to <br />close Dunham Street, between Warren and Carlisle, on Monday, <br />September 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for a Labor Day Picnic <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for review and <br />recommendation. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF EASEMENTS AND DEED - BRETHREN CARE OF SOUTH BEND <br />The Board received easement and right -of -way agreements from <br />Brethren Care of South Bend prepared.at the request of the <br />Engineering Department for.the granting of.right -of -way on Inwood <br />and Ironwood Roads. The agreements have been reviewed by the <br />Engineering Department and acceptance is recommended. Also <br />submitted was a Deed Exchanging Real Estate between the City of <br />South Bend and Brethren Care of South Bend. The deed has been <br />reviewed and approval is recommended. Upon motion made by <br />Mr., McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the easement <br />agreements and the deed were accepted by the Board and will be <br />recorded. <br />PRELIMINARY PLANS ACCEPTED AND IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3477 <br />ADOPTED - PAVING OF ALLEY BETWEEN RIVERSIDE DR. AND PARKVIEW PLACE <br />The Bureau of Design and Administration submitted to the Board <br />preliminary plans, a cost estimate, a preliminary assessment roll <br />and improvement resolution for the proposed paving of the alley <br />located between Riverside Drive and Parkview Place, from Woodlawn <br />to Oakwood. Mr. McMahon noted that this project was before the <br />Board on a previous occasion and was rescinded upon the remonstrance <br />of property owners. The Board has now received a request to <br />reactivate the petition. The revised cost estimate for the <br />project is $32,490.00. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the plans, cost estimate and preliminary <br />assessment roll were filed and the following resolution was <br />adopted: <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3477 <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, that it is deemed necessary to improve the north - <br />south alley between Parkview Place and Riverside Drive from Woodlawn <br />to Oakwood by constructing a 10 feet wide, inverted crown 6" <br />Portland Cement Concrete Pavement. The same to be done in accordance <br />with the profiles, drawings, general details and specifications <br />for such improvements approved and to be adopted by the Board of Public <br />Works of the City of South Bend, immediately upon the final <br />adoption and confirmation of this Resolution, and placed on file <br />in the Office of the Board of Public Works of said City, and such <br />improvement is now ordered. <br />The total cost of said improvement, including all incidental costs, <br />such as advertising and engineering, shall be assessed upon the <br />real estate abutting on said alley concrete pavement, in accordance <br />with applicable statutes. The said improvement is to be financed <br />and paid for as provided in Chapter 40 of the Acts of 1953, as <br />amended (1971 I.C. 18 -6 -3). Assessments, if deferred, are to be <br />paid in five (5) equal installments, with interest at the rate of <br />six (6) per cent per annum. <br />I <br />j <br />
