The report indicated forty outages.
Upon motion made by Mr, McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and
carried, the report was ordered filed.
BLOCK PARTY REQUEST FILED - EAST LA SALLE STREET
R. H. Metzcus submitted a request to close the 1400 block East
LaSalle on Sunday, July 29 for a Block Party. The closing would
be from 8:a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon,
seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was referred to
the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for
review and recommendation.
HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMIT APPROVED
The Board received a request from Eugene Brzezinski, 1411 West
Sample Street, for handicapped parking permits for two vehicles.
A doctor's statement was attached to the application. Upon
motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Mullen and carried,
the permits were approved and referred to the Deputy City
Controller for issuance.
BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - EMULSIFIED ASPHALT
Patrick McMahon, Director of Public Works, made a verbal request
to the Board for permission to advertise for bids for Emulsified
Asphalt for the Street Department. He noted that the Board had
received notification from the successful bidder for this item
that he will not be able to supply the City at the existing price
due to inflation. The bid accepted by the City does not have an
escalator clause provision and, because of the rise in the cost
of petroleum products, he feels he cannot continue to supply the
City at the price quoted. Mr, McMahon said the other option would
be to take some action with respect to the bond of the supplier
and said he did not feel that action would be in the best interests
of the City since it would cause some, delay in receiving supplies.
The present supplier has agreed to supply the City until new bids
are received. Mr. McMahon also noted that both the City of
Mishawaka and St. Joseph County have an escalator clause in the
bids for this item. Upon motion made by Mr, McMahon, seconded by
Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board authorized advertising for bids
for emulsified asphalt under the current specifications on file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon
by Mr. McMahon, motion made seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,
