10 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 2, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 1979 by Chairman Pro -Tem Peter H. <br />Mullen with Mr. Mullen and Mr. Brunner present and Mr. McMahon <br />absent. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - PHILLIPA STREET SEWERS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the Phillipa Street <br />Sanitary Sewers. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were <br />found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />O'Neal Trucking Company Bid was signed by Julius O'Neal, <br />South Bend, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a five per cent bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid - $139,722.86 <br />Bradberry Brothers, Inc. Bid was signed by W. J. Bradberry, <br />South Bend, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a five per cent bid bond <br />Bid - $151,595.40 was submitted. <br />Haskins, Inc. Bid was signed by Richard Haskins, <br />Lakeville, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a five per cent bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid - $191,983.00 <br />LaFree Excavating Company Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, <br />Osceola, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a five per cent bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid — $149,813.40 <br />Bartolini <br />Excavating Co. <br />Bid was signed <br />by Dominic Bartolini, <br />Mishawaka, <br />Indiana <br />non- collusion <br />affidavit <br />was in order <br />and a five per <br />cent bid <br />bond was <br />Bid - $160,782.70 <br />submitted, <br />H. DeWulf <br />Mechanical Contractor <br />Bid was signed <br />by Henry <br />DeWulf, <br />Mishawaka, <br />Indiana <br />non- collusion <br />affidavit <br />was in order <br />and a five per <br />cent bid <br />bond was <br />submitted, <br />Bid - $161,566.40 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />COMPLAINT - CITY CEMETERY FENCE <br />Dennis Moran was present with a group of citizens from the neighborhood <br />near the City Cemetery to discuss with the Board the proposed new <br />fence installation. Mr. Moran said the neighborhood residents are <br />not in favor of removal of the wrought iron fence and construction <br />of a chain link fence. He questioned whether the City should allow <br />the Morse Electric Company to retain the wrought iron fence as salvage <br />
