W <br />Q <br />Q <br />10 <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />JUNE 28, 1979 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr, Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the Board received two last minute <br />booth applications for the Ethnic Festival to be held June 30 <br />and July 1 and he made a motion that they be added to the agenda. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BOOTH APPLICATIONS APPROVED <br />Michele Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the <br />Board the application of Southold Dance League for a display booth <br />and the application of Turner- Petsche for a craft booth at the <br />Ethnic Festival and her recommendation that the applications be <br />approved. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the applications were approved. <br />APPROVAL WITH CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER - FIRST BANK CENTER <br />A contract between the City of South Bend and Sollitt Construction <br />Company, Inc, as Construction Manager for the First Bank Center <br />was submitted to the Board. Mr. Robert Taylor, President of Sollitt <br />Construction Company, was present. The Construction Manager will <br />be supervising all publicly let contracts for the garage, atrium <br />and walkways in the public portion of the project. The contract <br />provides for compensation of $240,000, over a thirty -month period, <br />and some reimbursables for additional services. Mr. McMahon made <br />a motion that the contract be awarded, subject to the concurrence <br />of the Legal Department. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it <br />carried. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF BIDS - MASS EXCAVATION AND CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS <br />Mr. McMahon submitted to the Board a tabulation of all bids received <br />for the mass excavation and concrete foundations for the First Bank <br />Center. There were three bids submitted for the excavation work <br />and the low bid submitted by Ritschard Brothers, Inc. in the amount <br />of $140,000 was found to be in order. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the low bid of <br />Ritschard Brothers, Inc. was accepted, with the notice to proceed <br />to be issued on July 10, 1979, subject to filing of bonds and insurance. <br />There were eight bids submitted for the concrete foundation work. <br />The low bid of Henry - Williams, Inc. of $436,250.00 was found to be <br />in order. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the low bid of Henry- Williams, Inc. was accepted <br />subject to the filing of bonds and insurance certificate as <br />required, with the notice to proceed to be issued on July 10, 1979. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, <br />the meeting adjourned at 9:25 a.m. <br />C <br />Patrick M.
