REGULAR 14EETING <br />BONDS APPROVED <br />83 <br />JUNE 11, 1979 <br />Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, reported to the Board <br />that a Contractor's Bond written on behalf of Lawrence Chrzan <br />and an Excavation Bond written on behalf of LaFree Excavating <br />Company had been properly executed and could be approved. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the bonds were approved. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY FILED <br />The O'Brien Corporation submitted a letter request to purchase <br />any portion of city -owned property at 207 Johnson Street <br />not needed for the Orange -- Colfax Connector. The property is <br />adjacent to property presently owned by the O'Brien Corporation. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the request was filed and referred to the Mayor's Office, <br />Engineering Department, Community Development Department and <br />Park Department for review and a determination as to whether the <br />property should be retained for any purpose. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period May 31 through <br />June 7 was submitted to the Board. The report indicated seven <br />outages. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the report was ordered filed. <br />COMPLAINT - GENE MINNICK <br />Gene Minnick, 1922 Kemble Avenue, was present and made a complaint <br />to the Board regarding a claim for damage to his car which was <br />rejected by the City's insurance company. Mr.Minnick said the <br />damage was caused by an unmarked hole in the pavement on the east <br />side of Ironwood, north of Jefferson. The damage occurred on <br />January 5, 1979 and his claim was filed on January 31, 1979. <br />Mr. Minnick said the hole was barricaded after the incident. <br />Mr. Brunner noted that the Insurance Company acts as the City's <br />agent in such matters and the City does not have the right to <br />overrule the company decision in such matters. Mr. Minnick asked <br />how the insurance company could make a judgment on such a matter <br />and Deputy City Attorney James Masters advised him that the insurance <br />company requests copies of all documents and all information relating <br />to each individual claim before a decision is made. <br />Mr. Minnick also complained about the improper grading of an alley <br />adjacent to his property and stated that water now runs off the <br />alley onto his property.
