I <br />50 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 14, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 1979 by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Also in <br />attendance was Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone. <br />REVIEW OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Mr. 11cMahon reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of May 7 and he made a motion that the minutes be approved <br />as submitted. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Mr. McMahon noted review of the minutes of a special meeting held <br />on May 1, 1979 to consider a booth application for River Bend Plaza <br />for a Nuclear Plant Moratorium Group. He made a motion to approve <br />the minutes of the meeting as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded __ the <br />motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - MICHIGAN /MAIN CONNECTOR <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the construction of <br />the Michigan /Main Connector. The Clerk tendered proofs of publica- <br />tion of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. Co. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $418,014.75 <br />LaFree Excavating Co. <br />Osceola, Indiana <br />Bid - $393,159.50 <br />Bid was signed by Chester Skwarcan, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5°% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Thomas 0. <br />Walsh, non - collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by William Reiff, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Upon motion made by Mr..11cMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Bureau of Engineering for review and <br />recommendation. <br />[1 <br />
