I =,#I <br />January 7, 1957 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, January 79 <br />1957 at 10:00 A.M. (CST). All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Weave, Colpaert Realty Corporation, for the <br />installat" -.on of street lighting on Huron Circle from Huron Street and return to Huron <br />Street; also, Huron Street from Lombardy Drive to Gladstone Avenue in the Belleville <br />Development. Petition hereby referred to the Electrical Department for investigation. <br />Fire Chief Andrzejewski appeared before the Board with reference for himself and <br />1 Assistant namely John Andert to attend a Conference in Indianapolis on the 14th and <br />15th days of January, 1957. Permission granted. <br />Upon recommendation by the Chief of the Police Department, the Board approves the <br />following promotion: <br />Lieut'. Chas. Borowski from Lieut. to rank of Captain. <br />1 <br />Bert S. Cichowicz, Gity Sealer, requests permission to attend a course at the In- <br />structor School of Weights & Measures in Indianapolis, Indiana on the 9th, 10th, and 11th <br />days of January, 1957. Permission granted. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to advertise for 8 new automobiles and four <br />3- wheeled servi-cycles for the Police Department, as per specifications as submitted to <br />the Board by Police Chief. <br />A letter was received from the Firemen's Pension Fund Board with reference to grant- <br />ing a: monthly disability pension of $220.32 or 55 per cent of a fully paid first class <br />firemen's pension salary to Charles V. DeVleeschower, Jr. This pension to become effective <br />as of January 16, 1957. Board hereby approves recommendation of Pension Board. <br />The time now being 10:15 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Fire De- <br />partment sedan and fire apparatus were opened. Proofs of publication appeared in the <br />South Bend Iribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with <br />and affidavit signed by V. DeCanio were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. <br />The bids received read as follows: <br />Freeman- Spicer Company A non - collusion affidavit and a <br />520 South Lafayette St. certified check in the amount of <br />South Bend, Indiana $229.00 accompanied the bid. <br />1 1957 Studebaker Commander BW4 4 -door Sedan <br />Less discount and allowance . . . . . . . . . . . $2285.31 <br />The bid is now taken under consideration by the Board and is hereby awarded to said <br />Freeman- Spicer Company. <br />
