Police Chief Dutrieux appeared before the Board with reference to request permission <br />to change the style of the jackets now worn-by the Police officers. Officer Miller also <br />appeared before the Board and modeled the Eisenhower jacket, which the Chief wishes to <br />adopt as part of the uniform of the officers. The Board now approves the adoption of <br />said jacket and shall be purchased by all officers only when their present jacket wears <br />out. It is also understood that the purchase will be included in their $104.00 allot- <br />ment for clothing. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to advertise for Cable for the Electrical <br />Department. Notice to Bidders to appear in the SouthBend Tribune and The Record on the <br />23rd and 30th days of November, 1956 and bids will then be received on the 3rd day of <br />December, 1956. <br />Nick Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, recommends the installa- <br />tion of one 4000 lumen light at the alley intersection on Harrison Street, between Van <br />Buren and Lindsey Streets. Board now approves the recommendation of the Electrical Sup- <br />erintendent. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:30 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were approved and read. Salary claims in the total amount of $84,331.28 was approved <br />by the Board.
