ME, <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />0 <br />Chief Dutrieux appeared before the Board with reference for request <br />of Patrolman Peter Marko for promotion from Patrolman to Sergeant. Re- <br />quest granted and is effective as of March 12, 1956. <br />The Uniform Committee of the South Bend Police Department,represent- <br />ed by Sgts. Maxson and Miller, appeared before the Board with reference <br />to the change in uniforms of the Police Department. The committed dis- <br />played a leather jacket and also an Eisenhower jacket and requested that <br />the Board consider a change for the uniforms. The Board having examined <br />the same_and took the matter under advisement. <br />Upon recommendation by the Chief of Police Dutrieux, the Board now <br />approves the appointment of Special Police to the following persons: <br />Daniel W. Richardson, Roy C. Eger, Charles E. Dempsey, Delmar J. Mack, <br />Maurice Cohen, and Joseph B. Kolo. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT <br />Ira Hunsberger, Supt. of the Electrical Department, appeared before <br />the Board and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />Ira Hunsberger, Supt. of the Electrical Department, recommends that <br />four 6000 lumen lights be installed from Lombardy Drive & Western Avenue <br />to Gladston Street and Western Avenue. Approved by the Board. <br />Ira Hunsberger recommends.that the light at College Street and El- <br />wood Avenue be increased from a 1000 lumen light to a 4000 lumen light. <br />Approved by the Board. <br />Ira Hunsberger recommends that a 1000 lumen light be installed at <br />Jefferson Street and 36th Street. Approved by the Board. <br />Ira Hunsberger recommends that a 4000 lumen light be installed on <br />Beale Street at the dead end at Riverside Drive and St. Joseph River. <br />Also, a light(4000) should be installed one block west of this location <br />at Beale and Cushing Streets. Approved by the Board. <br />Ira Hunsberger recommends that no light is necessary on Lindsey St. <br />between Cushing & Scott Streets. Approved by the Board. <br />A report of the list of materials used on State Highway traffic <br />signals in the City of South Bend, Indiana was submitted to the Board by <br />Ira Hunsberger. The matter was taken under advisement by the Board and <br />is now referred to the Traffic Engineer, Ernest H. Miller, for necessary <br />negotiation of the State Highway Commission. <br />Applications for the Police Department were examined and filed for <br />the following: John Thomas Przybysz, Henry Leonard Kruszewski, and Troy <br />Leon Holt. <br />Applications for the Fire Department were examined and filed for <br />the following: Edward Eugene Urbanski, Joseph Vandel Nagy, and Theodore <br />William Cebulski. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meet- <br />ing was adjourned at 11:10 A.M.
