JANUARY 23, 1956 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Dutrieux was present and matters pertaining to his <br />Department were discussed. <br />The Board recognizes a request of the Chief for permission <br />to use the Parking Meter department premises. The Board now grants <br />permission for the use of the said premises and the parking meter de- <br />partment shall be transferred to the basement of the Water Works. <br />The Board approved the appointment of Edward G. Radecki, <br />617 South Jackson St., as special police officer in and for the City <br />of South Bend, Indiana. <br />The request of Sergeant Elmer J. Coil for retirement was <br />granted becoming effective April 2, 1956. Approved and ordered filed. <br />Request of Sergeant Louis Horvath to the Board for demotion <br />from sergeant to patrolman was approved. Request granted and ordered <br />filed. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT <br />Ira L. Hunsberger, Sp.perintendent of Electrical Department, <br />appeared before the Board with reference for a request to purchase <br />a 2 -ton truck with a trade -in of 1952 model. Request was approved <br />and the Clerk of the Board was ordered to advertise, according to <br />specifications. <br />A request from Ira'L. Hunsberger, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department, that street lights be installed in the Twyc- <br />kenham Addition and the Broadmore Addition. Permission granted. <br />Applications for Fire department were ordered filed by the <br />Board for the following: Chester Anthony Mielcarek, George Stephen <br />Klipich, Henry Zalton Bognar, Harry John Bankowski, and Louis Robert <br />j Kovach. <br />Applications for Police Department were ordered filed by <br />the Board for the following: James Charles Black, Eugene Ronald <br />Borowski, Robert Melvin Tomaszewski, and James William McMahon. <br />There being no further business to becomer before the <br />Board, the m eeing was adjo ed at 1T :O A M. <br />ATTEST: <br />7 ler CHAIRA <br />A regular meeting of the <br />Board of Public Safety was held <br />Monday, January 30, 1956 at 10 :00 <br />A.M.
