Ma <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />Superintendent Ira Hunsberger, being present', brought to the. <br />Boardts attention his departmentts'need for a quantity of Crouse -Hinds mater- <br />ial totaling in excess of $600.00. 'Funds being available to provide these, <br />supplies, the Board directed tie Clerk to proceed with the purchase <br />accordingly. <br />Superintendentts Hunsbergerts recommendation for the installation <br />of a 6000 lumen light to be mounted on Pole J- 261 -76 on Ironwood Drive, <br />between Jefferson Boulevard and the Grand Trunk Railroad, was considered <br />and approved. <br />Installation of three 4000 lumen lights to be installed at the <br />following locations were recommended by Mr. H'unsberger and approved by <br />the Board: <br />Intersection of Lakewood Drive and Brookton Drive <br />Intersection of Lakewood Drive and Norton Drive <br />Midway between 1221 and 1215 Lakewood Drive. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: <br />Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, being present, recommended the granting <br />of retirement on disability pension of Captain George K. Geltz, at the Cap - <br />tains's request, and advised the Board of the medical examiners report <br />that Captain Geltz is no longer physic.ally fit for duty as a fireman. Chief <br />Duck further recommended the promotion of Lieutenant Raymond Arendt to the <br />rank of captain and-his transfer to fill vacancy brought about by the <br />retiro- nt of Captain Goltz. The Board approved the Chiefis recommendation <br />and it was so ordered, to become effective December 1, 1955• <br />Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, then brought to the Boardts attention the <br />Fire Department's need for additional personnel, recommending the appoint- <br />ment of the following applicants: <br />Edwin V. Bottorff Raymond S. Ewald <br />Harry J. Doyle Louis M. Hedl <br />William H. Dyer Thomas L. Latimer <br />Anthony Romeo <br />The Board approved.the appointments, effective December 1, 1955, <br />subject to the regulation probationary period of six months. <br />The time now being 11;00 A. M. G,S.T., it was so announced and the <br />Board proceeded to open the single bid received in response to legal <br />advertising to provide one new four -door sedan for the Fire Department., <br />Bid was found to be as follows: <br />Scherman- Schaus- Freeman Co. A non- collusion affidavit .and <br />South Bend, Indiana. cebtified check for $180.00 <br />Accompanidd the bid. <br />l —1956 Studebaker Commander Sedan ....... $1976.16 <br />Less allowance on 1947 Sedan...... 181.16 <br />01795-00 <br />Bid was accepted and contract awarded to Scherman - Schaus- Freeman <br />Company. The Clerk was directed to issue formal purchase order accordingly. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />meeting adjourned at 11 :10 A.
