<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, 
<br />my 18, 1955, at 10 :00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the 
<br />revious meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers, 
<br />'n the total amount of 05141.78, were approved and ordered paid: 
<br />Then appeared before the Board, Mrs. George N. Georgalas, 251 N. 
<br />Edison Avenue, and Mrs. B. F. Cukrowicz, 256 N. Gladstone, registering 
<br />c mplaint in regard to the racing of automobiles on Linden Avenue and 
<br />F llmore Road. It was pointed out that portions of this highway, east of 
<br />Mayflower Road, are within the jurisdiction of the State Police, and that 
<br />the City does not have sufficient Police personnel for patrolling these 
<br />distant areas in the degree conditions, at certain times, would justify. 
<br />The Board informed the complainants, however, that an effort will be made 
<br />to arrest speed violators in this area, with a view to eliminating the 
<br />11 acing" now in practice. 
<br />The Police Department applications of Walter J. Borkowski and Richard 
<br />-�P. Thomas were examined and ordered placed on file. 
<br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: 
<br />Then appeared before the Board Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, and brought to the 
<br />Bo rdts attention the urgency for the advertising for bids to supply a new 
<br />Pumper of which the Department will be in need with the advent of winter 
<br />weather. The Chief pointed out the fact this equipment requires a minimum 
<br />of 120 days to effect delivery. The Board directed the Clerk to proceed with 
<br />th necessary legal advertising.
