nd Patrolman Paul L. Locsi to attend summer training at Camp Le Jeune for <br />he period of July 24th to August 7th, Marine Corps Reserve. Leave was <br />ranted by the Board accordingly. <br />Upon the recommendation of Chief Gille4,leave of absence was granted to <br />Patrolman F. J. Chrapliwy to attend summer training at Camp Grayling, for <br />he period of July 10th to July 24th inclusive, as a member of the 293rd <br />National Guard Unit. <br />The Board next appointed Raymond C. Ashbaugh as a special police <br />fficer in and for the City of South Bend, while in the employ of the <br />endix Aviation Corporation. <br />The Police Department application of Edward.Van Hulle was examined and <br />rdered placed on file. <br />Chief Gillen placed before the Board a winter cap for motorcycle and <br />ra.ffic duty, recommending its adoption and mentioning the fact that there <br />ere some instances of frost - bitten ears this past winter. The Chief <br />lso mentioned this capts adoption as uniform winter cap of the Indiana <br />tate Police and called attention to its comparatively low cost. Action- <br />as deferred by the Board. <br />LECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />The Board considered and decided upon the continuance in service <br />of three 1000 lumen lights and nine 4000 lumen lights in the Broadmoor <br />and Beacon Heights Additions, and the Clerk was directed to so inform the <br />ndiana & Michigan, Electric Company accordingly. <br />A petition, dated June 23, 1955, calling for improved lighting on <br />Dundee Street, between Jefferson and Washington, was examined and.referred <br />to Supt. Ira Hunsberger for investigation and report. <br />It now being 10 :00 A. M. C.S.T. the advertised time for the opening <br />f bids, announcement was so made and the Board proceeded with the following <br />esults: <br />EDWARD G. MOODY & SON, INC. <br />NASHUA, N. H. <br />1 - 100 Gallon two -wheel portable test measure <br />Our model 155 to your specifications ........ 1345.00 <br />Crating,-and freight charges extra ............... 120.00 <br />This bid was not accompanied by certified check or bidders bond, due <br />-.o faulty advertising, and thru no failure on the part of the Edward G. <br />Moody & Son, Inc. <br />Inasmuch as bid was for the purpose of supplying a specific tyn <br />est Ideasure device, and the description meeting with the satisfaction <br />f the Inspector of Weights and Measures, the Board after examination <br />f the Statutes governing, and in view of the fact no other bids were <br />eceived to supply such equipment, authorized its purchase. <br />Inspectorts Report, Division of Weights & Measures, for the month <br />June, was examined and ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />Zeeting was adjourned at 11:20 A.
