March 31, 1955 <br />SPECIAL METING <br />A Special Meeting of the Board of Public 'Safety was held in the <br />o.f '3;cr4 of the Board at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, March 31, 1955, for the <br />p u:bpose of considering the re- appointment of Albert Voorde to the <br />Police Department. All members were present. <br />This officer, having recovered from the ill health, for which <br />he had been granted six months leave of absence, as of June 1, 19S4, <br />and being eligible for the vacancy created through the retirement of <br />Officer Doyal V. Rhymer, was recommended by Chief of Police, R. J. <br />Gillen, for re- appointment. Physicianst reports showing Mr. Voorde <br />fit for duty, the Board approved his re- appointment to be effective <br />Friday, April 1, 1955. <br />There being no other business to come before the Board at this <br />time, meeting was adjourned at 2:45 P.M. <br />Attest, <br />Clerk <br />Cl C rman <br />April 4, 1955 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday <br />April 4, 1955, at 10:00 A. M. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent. Minutes of <br />the previous meeting were read and approved. Salary claims, in the <br />total amount of $82;359.13, were approved. Yeager was examined and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT; <br />Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, was present and brought to the Board's <br />attention his department's need for an ambulette in replacement of the <br />ambulette which has now been in service fourteen months and shows mileage <br />in excess of 46,000. The Board conceded this need and directed the Clerk <br />to proceed with the required advertising for bids. <br />Chief of Police Gillen, together with Fire Chief, R. J. ?duck, <br />suggested to the Board the transfer of the Police Department ambulance to <br />the Fire Department, inasmuch as this piece of equipment is rarely used, <br />
