FIRE DEPARTMENT: <br />The Fire Department application of Ervin A. Dembinski was examined <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />There being no other business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 11:45 A. M. <br />Attest: <br />Clerk <br />4Cal-R—an <br />December 27, 1954 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, <br />December 27, 1954, at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />First appeared before the Board, Arthur C. Botos, arrested December 17, <br />1954 for passing school bus while unloading. The chairman of the Board, <br />Attorney I. A. Hurwich cautioned Mr. Botos against any repetition of the <br />violation as likely to result in the revocation of his taxi- driverts <br />license, and with this warning he was, thereupon, dismissed. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: <br />Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, the Board referred for his <br />attention a letter addressed to Mayor John A. Scott from the H. G. Christman <br />Construction Company, dated December 21, 1954, over the signature of <br />Howard Enmons. This letter called attention to the possible need of a <br />warning sign in connection with Fire Station No. 14. The matter was <br />given some discussion and,the erection of a warning device of the type <br />now in use at Kemble and Western Avenue is contemplated. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />The time now being 10:00 A. M. CST the Board proceeded to open the <br />single bid received to provide the Police Department with a seven passenger <br />sedan. The Bid was as follows: <br />SCHERMAN- SCHAUS- FREEMAN CO. A Non- Collusion Affidavit <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, and a certified check for <br />;210.00 accompanied the <br />bid. <br />1 - Studebaker President State 4 -Door <br />Sedan as per proposal ..............2100.00 <br />Bid having been found to be in order in all respects, the Board <br />thereupon awarded contract to Scherman- Schaus- Freeman Company and <br />directed the Clerk to issue the required purchase order. <br />The Board's attention was then brought to the overhauling and repair <br />of twenty -nine typewriters used by the Police Department and the Clerk was <br />directed to obtain three or more quotations from reputable typewriter <br />repair shops for the Boardts consideration in this connection. <br />The Police Department application of John S. Nowak was examined <br />and ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 11:10 A.
