March 22, 1954 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, <br />March 22, 1954,-at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the previous meetin were read and approved. Salary claims, in the <br />amount of $79,835.09, were approved. Gillen, first appeared before the Board <br />presenting the required forms for appointment as special police officers <br />for Allen E. Kester, Jr. Garwood E. Schroff, Virgil L. Sharp, and Richard <br />C.Weldon. Upon the recommendation of Chief Gillen, the Board approved <br />all four appointments forthwith. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />The Board reviewed bids received to supply twenty new fire alarm <br />boxes, and upon recommendation of Supt. Ira Hunsberher, the Board accepted <br />the bid of the Gamewell Company, as being in the best interests of the City, <br />and directed the Clerk to issue the required purchase order. <br />The recommendation of Supt. Hunsberger for the installation of a <br />4000 lumen light, at the intersection of West Washington and Lake Street, <br />was approved by the Board. <br />A petition, dated March 16, 1954, bearing the signatures of six <br />property owners of the 2600 block Gertrude Street, requesting a street <br />light, was examined and referred to Supt. Hunsberger for investigation <br />and report. <br />A petition, dated March 15, 1954, requesting additional street <br />ighting and fire alarm boxes for Parkway Lane, from Sample Street to <br />eadow Lane, was examined and referred to Supt. Hunsberger for inves- <br />igation and report. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />eeing was adjourned at 11:40 A.
