Mai °c ei 15, 1954 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, <br />March 15, 1954 at 10 :00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the previous meeting were read and approved. Duck, and <br />brought to the Boardts attention the Fire Department's need for six <br />hundred feet of new hose. The Chief requested that four- hundred feet <br />of the new hose is to be 12 -inch D.J.W. and Gum #1022, and two - hundred <br />feet is to be 3 /4r -inch high - pressure red booster hose. The Board <br />approved the Chiefts request and directed the Clerk to proceed with the <br />purchase of the required fire hose. <br />The Fire Department applications of Joseph V. Nagy and James K. <br />Ransberger were examined and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />Chief Electrical Inspector, Herbert Harrison, being present, explained <br />to the Board the need of a "stand -by" electrical unit, equipped with a <br />gas engine, for use in an emergency to maintain Police Department lighting <br />and communications system. Also present was the Chief of Police, Richard <br />J. Gillen, who informed the Board that equipment of this type should be <br />available and maintained ready for instant service and that he recommended <br />the purchase of such a unit. The opportunity of securing this "stand -by" <br />equipment at this time at an advantageously low cost was pointed out by <br />the Chief Electrical InspectoV, and the Board thereupon, directed the <br />Clerk to proceed with the purchase. <br />The Police Department application of Jack E. Boyer was examined and <br />ordered filed. <br />This being the time set in the legal advertising for the opening of <br />ids for materials and supplies for the Electrical Department, announcement <br />as so made, and bids were opened with results as follows: <br />SUPERIOR FIRE ALARM DIVISION A non - collusion affidavit <br />MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT and certified check for <br />$300.00 accompanied the bid. <br />
