M', <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />December 30, 1953 <br />A special meeting of the Board was called and met at 2 :00 P.M. <br />Wednesday, December 30, 1953, in the ofrice of the Board of Public <br />?11dorks and Safety, for the purpose of considering the demotion of <br />Lieutenant John Oduseh and to provide a hearing for the lieutenant <br />relative to his failure to conform with the non - discrimination non - <br />segregation policy of the City Administration. All members were <br />present. <br />Fire,Chief, Richard J. Duck, being present, placed before the Board <br />a. statement of the treatment accorded Fireman William Wilson, Jr. recently <br />transferred as an experienced fireman from Fire Station No.. 8 to Fire <br />Station No. 2. <br />The Board then called for Lieutenant Odusch, who appeared, accompanied <br />by Assistant Chief V,argyas. Lieutenant Odusczits presentation and replies <br />to the questioning of the Board, in the main, confirmed the reasons set <br />forth for his demotion by Fire Chief Duck. <br />The Board then recessed briefly and upon reconvening reviewed the <br />facts and the situation resulting. Lie.utenantf'odusch was again asked <br />to appear before the Board and was inf ormed.of the unanimous ruling of <br />the Board that he be demoted from the rank of lieutenant to private, <br />effective January 1, 1954. <br />There being no other matters for attention at this meeting, the <br />meeting was, thereupon, adjourned; the time being 3 :10 P.
