rim <br />October 5, 1953 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, <br />October 51 1953, at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the previous meeting were read and approved. Salary claims in the amount <br />of $75,782.93 were approved. Gillen, being present, discussed with <br />the Board matters pertaining to his department. <br />The Police Department application of Floyd J. Chrapliwy was examined <br />ordered placed on file. <br />A letter from Attorney J. Clifford Potts, under date of October 2nd, <br />ddressed to the president of the Board, was then given consideration <br />nd the Board agreed that in lieu of litigation, it should be possible <br />o pay the 1952 clothing allowance demand of Larue H. Wert, and effect a <br />aving thereby. Chief Gillen was directed to consult with the represent - <br />tives of the State Board of Accounts and proceed accordingly. <br />IRE DEPARTMENT: <br />Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, presented to the Board quotations, <br />eceived from local furniture dealers,to supply fourteen beds and bed <br />prings for Fire Station No. 14. The quotation of S. W. Gerber Upholstering <br />ompany was considered the lowest and best offer and the Clerk was directed <br />o proceed with the purchase of the needed equipment. <br />The bids of Scherman- Schaus- Freeman Company to supply a 4 -door sedan for <br />he Fire Chief were again reviewed, and decision made to purchase the <br />Commander Deluxe, at the bid price of $2475.09, plus the additional $153.38 <br />o provide power steering. The Clerk was directed to issue formal purchase <br />order, encumbering funds for payment of this equipment. <br />Fire Department applications of Roy J. Bradburn and Samuel A. Williams <br />re examined and ordered filed. <br />Fire Department Injuries Report for the month of September was ordered <br />iled. <br />Reports of runs made to outlying area by Engine Company No. 7 on <br />ptember 21st and 29th were examined and ordered filed. <br />A special traffic sign for use in the protection of school children, <br />:'fered by the Coca Cola distributors, was brought to the attention of the <br />
