SPECIAL MEETING <br />August 18, 1953 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held at 8 :30 a.m. <br />Tuesday, August -18, 1953• Board member, R. S. Andrysiak was absent. <br />At this time, appeared before the Board, Chief of Police, Richard J. <br />Gillen, Captain -M. J. Voelkel, and Lieutenant Richard Stickley, and <br />upon the recommendation of Mayor John A. Scott, the Board took the <br />following action: <br />.Lieutenant Richard Stickley is hereby demoted from the <br />rank of lieutenant to patrolman'a.nd is, accordingly, <br />relieved of his duties as commander of the lst Detail <br />of the Patrol Division. <br />Captain M. J. Voelkel, head of the uniformed division, is assigned <br />the additional duty of commander of the lst Detail of the Patrol Division <br />until further notice. <br />It was the consensus of opinion that this action was necessary in the <br />interests of public safety. <br />Attest: <br />Clerk <br />n <br />CUhai r an <br />August 24, 1953 <br />A regular meeting of the Board'of'Public Safety was held Monday, <br />August 24, 1953, at 10 :00 A. M. Mr. R. S. Andrysiak was absent. Minutes <br />of the previous regular and also special meeting were read and approved. <br />Payroll claims in the amount of $74,739.55 were approved. Gillen, was present and reported no new <br />velopments to present to the Board at this time. <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, being present, brought to the attention <br />the Board an improved and much more efficient type of nozzle now avail - <br />.e, and the urgent need for the replacement of ten obsolete nozzles with <br />new nozzle to be obtained from the Elkhart Brass Mfg. Co. In view of <br />attractive offer made by these people on the initial ten nozzles re- <br />,red, the Board approved the purchase and directed the Clerk to proceed <br />ordingly. <br />
