Opening up the Stadium Pre, Post and Non Game Days • Artificial turf will allow us to welcome children, parents and grandparents for pre- game on the field catches for more family fun. We could not do this with natural turf as our groundskeeper had to line the field and do other work to get ready for the game. • We are opening up the stadium; two hours earlier on Sundays in 2011 to allow for families and fans to take advantage of this with pre and post game catches in the outfield, enjoy batting practice and watch our professional baseball players take infield work. • Businesses can now use our field for staff softball games or outings on non -game days • The South Bend Silver Hawks will host a police officer - fireman softball game as another show of community respect • Artificial turf allows us to pursue different uses for the field which could never be considered before. • Overnight Camp Nights- - - - -In 2010, over five hundred boy scouts /adults and over two hundred girl scouts /adults spent the night camping out at the cove. With artificial turf we will be able to offer family camp nights in addition to our scout nights and not have to cancel at the last minute if it rains. This overnight is an amazing experience for our youth and families throughout our community. Artificial turf and planning for our future Community Park for walking -With the addition of a 360 degree concourse, the Silver Hawks would like to open up the stadium throughout the day so community members can add this to their walking routine. In the spring /summer, have could have music on the outfield stage, possibly open up our grill and people can walk in, listen to music and buy or bring in lunch.
