Heiermann. Appointment was so made <br />and commission signed by the Board accordingly. <br />The Chief then brought to the attention of the Board, the Police <br />Department's need for eight new automobiles. There being, in the con - <br />sensus of opinion, sufficient funds in the department's Motor Equipment <br />Appropriation to procure the needed cars, the Board directed the Clerk <br />to proceed with the required legal advertising to obtain bids. <br />The Chiefts request that the Police Pistol Team be granted permission <br />to attend the annual Indiana State Pistol Matches at Putnamville, on <br />July 25th and 26th, received the Boardts approval. <br />The application for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol, of Mary <br />E. Smith, 309 South Iowa Street, was examined and ordered filed. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />A petition, dated July 8, 1953, requesting improved lighting of <br />the first alley south of Western Avenue,-between-Main and Michigan <br />Street, was examined and referred to Supt. Ira Hunsberger for investi- <br />gation and recommendation. <br />A petition, dated July 15, 1953, for the installation of a street <br />light on corners at the 1600 block Oak Park Drive and at the 1300 block <br />Whiteoak Drive, bearing signatures of ten home- owners in the area,.was <br />examined and referred to Supt. Ira Hunsberger for investigation and <br />recommendation. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 10 :50 A.
