4 POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The Board accepted the bids of Harley - Davidson Sales and Scherman- <br />Schaus Freeman, Inc.., taken under advisement in.previ_ous regular meeting. <br />Police Department Report for the month of February 1953 was examined <br />and ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 11:10 A. M. <br />Attest: <br />Clerk <br />Chairman <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />April 2, 1953 <br />A Special Ueeting of the Board of Public Safety was called at <br />2;00 P. M. Thursday, April 2, 1953 for the purpose of appointing. <br />Police Department applicants'to fill existing vacancies. I. A. Hurwich <br />was absent. <br />Chief of Police 'Richard J. Gillen presented to the Board the <br />applications; together with investigative and medical reports on the <br />applicants under consideration. All papers were found to be in order, <br />and the Chief was commended on the apparent high type and qualifications <br />of the applicants,'all of whom are men of military experience. <br />The Board, thereupon, approved for appointment to the Police Depart- <br />ment, subject to the usual probationary period, effective Monday, April <br />6s 1953s the following applicants: <br />Vernon C: Dull <br />Charles R. Kuskye <br />Wayne E. Marshall <br />Harold K. McMichael <br />John (NMI) Pastor <br />Martin J.
