Substitute Bill No. 49-10 <br />Ordinance No. 1 ~~3~ - ~,~ <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARIES FOR THE SOUTH BEND COMMON <br />COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2011 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />Legislative bodies throughout the State of Indiana are required to establish the annual <br />compensation for all of its elected city officers, consistent with the provisions of Indiana Code § 36- <br />4-7-2. Such compensation may not be "changed in the year for which it is fixed, nor may it be <br />reduced below the amount fixed for the previous year". <br />The following ordinance establishes the annual compensation for the 9-member South Bend <br />Common Council for 2011. <br />This ordinance is believed to be in the best interest of the City, by freezing the salaries for <br />the legislative branch of government at 2007 calendar levels. <br />~~u~, ~i~~~~~'e, ~n r,G d~~a~~zea~ by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. The members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, shall <br />be paid from the General Fund the following annual salary amounts: <br />Current Salary 2011 Salary <br />$16,898 $ 16,898 <br />Section II.
