Firefighters Local 362, 574 532 6538 <br /> <br /> <br />PATRIOT DAY MEMORIAL SERVICE UPDATE <br /> <br /> <br />th <br />In remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001, the South Bend Firefighters Local <br />362 will hold the annual Patriot Day Memorial, this Saturday at 7:30 am in Seitz Park. <br />Retired Lt. Pat Concannon of the New York Fire Department, active duty New York <br />Police Department Officer Paul Martin, and an Ann Arbor firefighter will be in attendance, as <br />well as Congressman Joe Donnelly, Mayor Steve Luecke, and Fire Chief Howard Buchanon of <br />the South Bend Fire Department. <br /> During the ceremony, this year, the Local 362 Color Guard will escort the “Moving <br />Piece,” a segment of steel from the North Tower of the World Trade Center, courtesy of Retired <br />Lieutenant Concannon. Crosses were cut from this piece of steel and given to the family <br />members of those whose remains were never located following the devastating attack. <br /> “As a community, we join together to remember those who perished during this tragic <br />event and to honor those who serve, today and everyday, to keep our country and our community <br />safe, and to thank them for their service – 24 hours a day, every day,” said Mayor Luecke. <br /> <br /> ### <br />
